About Us

Welcome to Dovers Green Our vision for the school is to nurture all children to enable them to reach up and achieve their full potential whilst reaching out to help others. I am both proud and privileged to be the headteacher of a school where all staff work together to create a happy, caring environment so that every child feels safe, has positive self-esteem and is helped and encouraged to be a confident, independent learner.  Dovers Green has high expectations, encouraging children to always try hard to do their best in an atmosphere where they have a clear understanding of how they should behave and what is expected of them academically and socially.  An inclusive ethos underpins our work and each child is valued for his or her individuality while everyone understands that we are all special but we are all different.

The school motto ‘Reaching Up, Reaching Out’ reflects this ethos. Dovers Green is a community infant school set in beautiful grounds that over recent years have been developed to provide an interesting and exciting learning environment for the children.

Further information

Welcome to Dovers Green School where every child and member of staff is valued and respected as an individual and is encouraged to develop to their full potential. We endeavour to provide a stimulating environment that is ordered and well disciplined allowing all children to develop independence and where learning nurtures children’s natural inquisitiveness. An inclusive ethos underpins our work and each child is valued for his or her individuality, while everyone understands that we are all special but we are all different.

The school motto ‘Reaching Up, Reaching Out’ reflects this ethos. We want the children to be happy and excited about coming to school to learn and to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding across a wide curriculum. We aim to challenge and inspire every child. We are a Teaching School and also part of SESTA (South Surrey Teaching Alliance). This means that we work with five other local outstanding schools and colleges to provide support and professional development for the local area. We look forward to new children and parents becoming part of Dovers Green and do all we can to ensure that they settle in happily.

Learning can only take place when children feel secure and confident and therefore parents are encouraged to talk to us about any concerns or worries that may affect the happiness and progress of their child. Dovers Green is a three form entry commuity infant school set in beautiful grounds that over recent years have been developed to provide an interesting and exciting learning environment, where everyone works hard to ensure that the children are safe, secure and part of a friendly and caring community. The Foundation Stage class base is open plan and leads to a large outside area part of which has a canopy allowing children to spend a percentage of their day outside regardless of the weather.

The Year Two classes are off the main corridor and are light, airy rooms leading on to the terrace which is used as an additional learning environment. The Year One classes were relocated in September 2015 to a purpose built block off the main playground. The large hall is used for assemblies, physical education and it is where the children have their lunch. We believe in educating our children for the future technological world and therefore Information and Communications Technology (ICT) features highly at Dovers Green. All the classrooms are equipped with laptops and an interactive whiteboard and our well resourced computerised library is situated centrally so that all the children are able to access it independently. Our computer room has an interactive whiteboard and six laptops all of which are linked to the school curriculum network and our Year Two classes have access to ipads.

During the school day emphasis is put on teaching children the values that underpin harmonious living in our society including honesty, politeness and good manners, consideration for others, responsibility for their own actions, respect for people and possessions and understanding the necessity for rules. At Dovers Green all lunches are cooked by our wonderful cook and team of catering assistants. Lunches are staggered and children go into lunch in their classes.  Teaching children good table manners, how to use cutlery, pour their own water and that mealtimes are a social occasion is very much part of our curriculum. Our extensive outside learning environment provides opportunities for children to play and learn.

At playtimes the children can use the two playgrounds, the astro, the sensory garden, the trim trail and when weather permits the large field. We have a wooded area where our Forest School takes place and all the children access this outside classroom every week. In addition we have a Special Needs Support Centre, which has planned places for sixteen children and was relocated in September 2014 to a purpose built Centre off the main playground. Badgers class is their base and the children integrate into a mainstream class with their peers, in accordance with their physical and learning needs. Dovers Green School was opened in 1959 and is situated to the south of Reigate. It is set in beautiful grounds, which have been developed to provide an exciting environment for work and play.
